This is an incredibly powerful time in astrology; many big changes are happening and we are being forced to face all of our old wounds to enable us to heal them and move forward.
What did we see this weekend?
Summer Solstice, 20th June.
The Solstice is the moment when the sun enters the constellation of Cancer; the first of the three summer zodiac signs. It welcomes the new season and celebrates the light overcoming the darkness, whilst acknowledging the start of the growing darkness. It is a celebration of a key stage in the Earth’s cycle of seasons and her energies.
New Moon in Cancer and a lunar Eclipse, 21st June.
This was a particularly powerful New Moon as it was in 0 degree Cancer; this is the very beginning point of the zodiac phase for the month, making this the start of a brand new cycle. Right now is an incredibly powerful time to manifest and we will feel the effects of this New Moon for a few days.
As it aligned with the Solstice and the new zodiac phase, this New Moon is a particularly special one; and that’s been magnified by its alignment with a lunar eclipse! A lunar eclipse, in case you’re new to moon stuff, is when the moon lines up exactly between the north and south nodes, which are the highest and lowest points of her orbit. In astrology, the nodes represent our future and our past and when the moon aligns directly between them it creates a strong karmic energy that pulls us between the two.
The energy surrounding this time will highlight to us where we still have unhealed wounds and act as a divide between who we were and who want to be.
What’s coming up next?
We have now moved into the next zodiac month of Cancer.
Cancer is a water sign and water represents emotions, flowing with the tides, doing what feels right, nurturing self and others. With the push and pull of the lunar eclipse you may have noticed that you have been particularly emotionally charged at this time. Cancer also represents family, loved ones, self worth and self love, therefore the wounds being highlighted to you at this time will likely be themed around these things.
Have you noticed old family wounds surfacing, or old flames getting in touch? These are signs that it is time to heal the wounds you never properly healed before.
We cannot grow, if we are not healed. We cannot move forward without dealing with the past.
Themes to think about over the month of Cancer
What old family wounds do you need to heal?
What old relationship wounds do you need to heal?
What feelings are ready to be let go of in order to create room for more positive feelings?
What world do you wish to see/create?
What do you need to heal within yourself in order to create the world you wish to see – starting within yourself?
Are these actions/intentions for the good of all?
Full Moon in Capricorn and a lunar Eclipse, 5th July
Capricorn is the exact opposite to Cancer in the zodiac chart. It might interest you to know that the Full Moon in any given month is always in the opposite sign to the new moon/zodiac month.
Capricorn represents the practical and logical world, solid grounding, responsibility and work driven ambition; which is opposite to Cancer’s emotions, flowing with the tides, doing what feels right, nurturing self and others.
Where the New Moon forces us to face what we need to actively heal in order to move forward, the Full Moon forces us to face what we need to let go of in order to move forward.
